At this point of the offseason, the roster is starting to form together for the Texas basketball program and new head coach Chris Beard. But Texas is still a long way from having their roster put together ahead of next season. They are still sitting in the single digits in terms of players on the current roster.

Beard and the Longhorns have already landed three players out of the NCAA Transfer Portal to try and rebuild the roster for next season. The first two hauls out of the transfer portal for the Longhorns included the former Kentucky Wildcats freshman guard and elite five-star recruit Devin Askew and the junior Utah Utes forward Timmy Allen.

Then later in the same week, Beard and the Longhorns landed a commitment out of the portal from the underrated former Creighton Blue Jays junior forward Christian Bishop. The trio that includes Bishop, Askew, and Allen, were huge gets for Texas to try and rebuild this roster.

Texas is also bound to get the redshirt junior shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones back for next season along with the senior sharpshooting guard Jase Febres. We’re still waiting to see what the likes of senior center Jericho Sims, senior guard Matt Coleman, and freshman power forward Greg Brown will do ahead of next season.

Who else could Beard and the Longhorns be looking at to build their roster out of the portal from here on out this offseason? Here’s a look at three players in particular in the transfer portal that the Longhorns have some traction with of late.
