Another younger guard that the Longhorns could pursue out of the transfer portal this offseason is the former TCU Horned Frogs underrated three-star recruit and redshirt freshman shooting guard Taryn Todd. The improving 6-foot-5 and 180 pound Canadian guard is a potential hidden gem for Beard and the Longhorns out of the portal this offseason.

Todd proved how much of an underrated find he was for the Horned Frogs 2019 recruiting class and head coach Jamie Dixon during the season that was.

The Longhorns don’t really have that true emerging guard that can play at the two, or the three in a small-ball lineup, like Todd. It should also appeal to Beard and his coaching staff that Todd could continue to learn and develop his offensive game under the trio that is junior guard Courtney Ramey, redshirt junior shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones, and senior sharpshooting guard Jase Febres.

Todd doesn’t have a firm landing spot in place yet. He put his name in the transfer portal back on April 9 and could take his time to find his next destination. And that makes sense since he’s still in the early stages of his college career, given he doesn’t take his talents to the next level before his senior year.

Next. 3 new portal targets that could soon join Texas. dark

In 26 games played with the Horned Frogs last season, Todd averaged 4.5 points per game, 1.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.2 blocks. And he shot 41.3 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 56.5 percent from the free-throw line.
