Texas Football: 3 best Malcolm Epps transfer landing spots
Oklahoma State
Since Texas did add some depth at the tight end position during the offseason in the form of landing key early enrollees like Juan Davis and Gunnar Helm, Epps maybe didn’t see as much playing time in his future as he once did two or three years ago. But this is still a key loss for the Longhorns that could be somebody else’s gain.
And there is always the chance now that the team that a player that enters the transfer portal like Epps lands with next is one that Texas will face the following season. In this hypothetical scenario, head coach Mike Gundy and the Big 12 foe Oklahoma State Cowboys could be the recipient of the 6-foot-6 and 245 pound Epps out of the portal.
Oklahoma State is one of the teams in the Big 12 that has sustained the heaviest amount of losses to their wide receiver and tight end rooms during the offseason. They lost the superstar senior wide receiver Tylan Wallace to the NFL Draft, and other key skill position players like Dee Anderson, Landon Wolf, and Jelani Woods, have all left Stillwater via the transfer portal.
Landing a commitment from Epps out of the transfer portal could get the Pokes a foe they’re familiar with, and one that could plug the loss of players in the receiving corps like Anderson and Woods. This move would make a lot of sense, as Epps would find a landing spot where he could make an immediate impact at next.
