Ability to play with Courtney Ramey and Andrew Jones

One of the biggest draws for a player like Jones out of the transfer portal could be the level of which his supporting cast can play at. Texas has faced a ton of roster attrition so far this offseason, but there are two or three key players that Beard can use as key focal points in the recruitment of Jones that are coming back to the Forty Acres for the 2021-22 season.

Those key players that the Longhorns look to get back for next season are redshirt junior shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones, senior sharpshooting guard Jase Febres, and senior guard Courtney Ramey. That trio of Longhorns each played a key role in their own right to get Texas to the point of a high single-digit seed in the NCAA Tournament and to win the Big 12 Tournament crown last season.

Jones would get someone like Febres that could help space the floor around him. Febres is known as a career sharpshooter since he was recruited out of high school. And he came out hot after returning from injury down the stretch last season.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jones is an absolute spark plug that could provide another true bucket-getter for the Longhorns alongside DeVante. And to top it all off, Ramey is a proven scorer and two-way guard that is one of the more versatile players at his position in the Big 12.

This would be a real solid cast of players between the two Joneses, Ramey, and Febres, if DeVante does wind up taking his talents to Austin when it’s all said and done.
