In an offseason that is going to be full of change for the Texas basketball and new head coach Chris Beard, the results were fruitful thus far in bits and pieces on the recruiting trail and out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas already has four big additions out of the transfer portal and is looking to soon find a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail for their 2022 class.

Beard and the Longhorns also salvaged something of their 2021 recruiting class that lost all of its original signees. Texas managed to flip the commitment of the former Texas Tech Red Raiders elite four-star John Paul II small forward signee Jaylon Tyson earlier this month. Beard did a nice job making sure he brought the commitment of Tyson with him from Lubbock.

And the four key additions for the Longhorns out of the transfer portal thus far have included the former Kentucky Wildcats freshman guard Devin Askew, junior Utah Utes forward Timmy Allen, junior Creighton Blue Jays forward Christian Bishop, and sophomore Vanderbilt Commodores power forward Dylan Disu. Those additions came in that chronological order for the Longhorns so far this offseason.

What transfer additions could be ahead for Texas basketball?

What lies next for Beard and the Longhorns following a busy offseason in the transfer portal so far is what has the attention of a lot of hoops fans on the Forty Acres. Texas very much appears to be a program on the rise at the moment, but they have to follow through with a solid offseason the rest of the way.

Texas is coming off a largely disappointing finish to last season under the direction of former sixth-year head coach Shaka Smart. But the hiring of Beard as the next head coach back on April 1 signals a new era for this basketball program.

Here’s a look into three potential transfer portal additions that could come within the next week for the Longhorns.
