Pittsburgh Steelers

Another landing spot that would present a similar situation to that of the Bucs for the former Longhorn Ehlinger would be the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North. The Steelers have a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback starting at the moment in the former Miami (OH) Redhawks signal caller Ben Roethlisberger.

What would offer a lot of value for Ehlinger through his development at the next level would be leaning under someone with the ability to scramble out of the pocket, at least at one point of his career, in “Big Ben”. The Steelers also have a good offensive line, potent ground game, and still a deep receiving corps around their quarterback.

The biggest challenge for Ehlinger, if he were to get drafted on day two or three this year by the Steelers, would be competing for the sole backup spot at quarterback with a heightened talent level at the position around him. Unlike the Falcons and Bucs, which don’t really have a solidified backup quarterback at the moment, the Steelers have quite a few names in consideration behind Big Ben.

Behind Roethlisberger, the Steelers do have the former Ohio State Buckeye Dwayne Haskins, former Oklahoma State Cowboy Mason Rudolph, and former Tennessee Volunteer Joshua Dobbs. That’s a lot to compete with for Ehlinger. But he’s never shied away from competition at any level of football in the past, and he wouldn’t do so if he were to land in the Steel City.
