Day one of the 2021 NFL Draft came and went and no players out of the Texas football program were able to end the drought of first-round picks. Since 2016, no Texas Exes were picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. But it really looked like there would at least be one draft prospect off of the Forty Acres this year that ended that drought.

Nothing of the sort came out to be true on the night of April 29. We are now left waiting to see what happens on day two and early on day three of the draft heading into the weekend. Texas went without two of their potential day one picks falling off the board.

Now, there’s a chance that the former Longhorns standout redshirt junior offensive tackle and the 6-foot-7 and 305 pound Samuel Cosmi and junior outside linebacker/edge rusher Joseph Ossai could be day two steals for various NFL teams. Another player to watch among the Texas Exes in this draft class on day two is the former talented junior safety and elite five-star recruit Caden Sterns.

The 6-foot-1 and 205 pound Sterns flashed a lot of his gifted physical tools and raw potential that could translate to the next level during the draft scouting process. He had a 4.4 second 40 yard dash time that he registered at the Texas Pro Day. That was very close to the 4.41 second 40 yard dash time for him at the NFL Draft Combine.

He also registered a solid 42-inch vertical leap at the NFL Combine and a 128-inch broad jump. Most of the measurements and timed drills for Sterns at the combine were thoroughly impressive.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three potential landing spots for Sterns in the NFL Draft.
