On day one of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Texas football program wasn’t able to end the drought of first-round picks. There was not a single Texas Ex picked in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2015 when the New England Patriots picked standout defensive tackle Malcom Brown 32nd overall.

There looked to be a couple of candidates in line among former Longhorns in this draft class to get picked up on day one. Instead, there were a few reaches in the first round, while a few former Longhorns were overlooked. Texas fans will likely have to wait until day two of the draft to see some of their players taken off of the board.

Texas could have at least five players picked in the seven rounds of this year’s draft. Last year was better than it was for the Longhorns in the 2019 draft, where they only had two players taken off of the board. And the first player among former Longhorns in the 2019 draft class was not taken off of the board until the fifth round when the Houston Texans picked up defensive end Charles Omenihu.

So the real question that Longhorns fans want answers for concerning the draft heading into the weekend is which players will be off the board first. Texas is more than likely to get two or three players taken off the board on day two, and then a few more on day three.

Day two of the 2021 draft is set to begin on April 30, starting at 6 p.m. CT. And then day three of the draft takes place on May 1 to round out the festivities this week.

Here’s a look at three former Longhorns that could be day two steals in the draft.
