Samuel Cosmi, OT (51st overall, Washington Football Team)

With the 51st overall pick in the second round of this draft, Washington Football Team snapped the three-year-long drought of former Longhorns in the second round since 2018 by picking offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi. The former standout redshirt junior 6-foot-7 and 305 pound Texas offensive linemen and two-time All-Big 12 selection was a good pickup by Washington.

Helping protect the veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was a top task at hand for Washington in this draft, and that’s what they were able to do by picking Cosmi. I really like this fit for both Washington and Cosmi since he could compete for a starting spot right away at one of the offensive tackle spots over either Morgan Moses or Geron Christian Sr.

Joseph Ossai, WR (69th overall, Cincinnati Bengals)

It was anticipated that the former star Longhorns junior outside linebacker/edge rusher and talented four-star recruit Joseph Ossai would go higher than he wound up going in this draft class. Ossai was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals on day two of the draft. But he would have to wait until the third round, where the Bengals snagged him 69th overall.

The Bengals were also the team that picked up the last Texas Ex linebacker that went in the third round, former All-American Malik Jefferson back in 2018. Hopefully, this move works out better for Ossai at the next level than it has Jefferson thus far. But this should be a good pick for the Bengals where Ossai can make an immediate impact. I like how early he’ll get a chance to compete for big-time reps.
