Kansas

Maybe the school that suffered the heaviest losses in the receiving corps to the transfer portal this offseason among all in the Big 12 is the Kansas Jayhawks. And just in terms of the turnover both on the roster and coaching staff thus far in Lawrence in 2021, there’s a lot going on right now.

Kansas parted ways with now former head coach Les Miles earlier in the offseason following the LSU scandal. And then they hired the former Buffalo Bulls head coach Lance Leipold to be their third bench boss in just the past four years. Kansas is now through Leipold, Miles, and David Beaty as their head coaches since the 2018 campaign.

Moreover, Kansas lost most of their receiving corps from last year’s team to the transfer portal at this point of the offseason. They’ve got to replenish that depth somehow, and Leipold will start to form his roster together here in the near future. Pursuing a Big 12 transfer like Lewis could make sense for all parties involved.

Kansas was also one of the schools that did offer Lewis coming out of high school.

Kansas was one of the worst offenses in the Big 12 for the past decade. Something might be able to give for them if they got this head coaching hire right. But winning football games in Lawrence was no easy feat for anyone since Mark Mangino was the head coach of the Jayhawks in the 2000s.
