Texas Football: 3 players whose stock is up post-spring
Bijan Robinson, RB
The running back position looks really solid for the Longhorns post-spring ball. The combination of the former elite five-star recruit Bijan Robinson and Johnson could make for one of the best duos at the position not just in the Big 12, but in the entire country, this year. Texas has a potent ground game, which could be supplemented by a dual-threat quarterback if redshirt junior Casey Thompson gets the start this fall.
Bijan in particular is not only one of the brightest stars on this team but maybe a top three running back in the country. He was red hot to round out his true freshman campaign, and only looked to carry that momentum into the offseason. Robinson averaged roughly 18 yards per touch in his final two games of the season, in wins over the Colorado Buffaloes in the Alamo Bowl and the Kansas State Wildcats in the regular season finale.
Robinson looked really good in spring ball, and what seemed to be a minor ankle injury after the spring game shouldn’t hamper him heading into summer workouts. And considering he possibly has the best chance to be a true Heisman contender for the Longhorns this year, Robinson has a lot of weight on his shoulders to help move this offense into the Sark-era.
Sark showed during the spring game part of what this offense could look like in the fall. Driven by an effective offensive line and a powerful ground game, the duo of Robinson and Johnson might be able to open up the deep passing game to gash opposing defenses. That what Sark did in the past two seasons to make the Alabama offense one of the most electric in the nation.
