Texas Basketball: 4 immediate impact studs to get out of the portal
Quincy Guerrier, F
Another case that is similar to that of the former Sun Devil Bagley out of the transfer portal this offseason is the former Syracuse Orange 6-foot-7 and 220 pound sophomore forward Quincy Guerrier. A player that is versatile enough to play more than half of the positions on the floor and can thrive in the process is someone that should be highly sought after.
Texas should really take notice of what Guerrier can bring to the table this year for them. Beard has assembled a solid roster at the two and the three, but it still has a ways to go. Guerrier could bring enough switchability of the table to get the rotation one giant leap closer to being rounded out ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season.
It was just last week that Guerrier put his name in the transfer portal in the first place. He has yet to find his next landing spot, and Texas is a hot destination at the moment. Guerrier and Texas could be a nice match.
The 2020-21 All-ACC honoree was solid for the Orange last season. In 28 games played, he averaged 13.7 points per game, 8.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks. He shot 49.3 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 67.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Guerrier was originally recruited as a blue chip to be a shooting guard out of high school. And he just had a season where he averaged more than eight rebounds per game. That is insane production for someone that was originally anticipated to be a two-guard. He has NBA-level physical traits and gifted talent that keeps growing each passing season.
