At this point in time, the 2023 Texas football recruiting class has a very positive outlook for what’s to come in the next few months. Texas has a true foundation to build off for their 2023 recruiting class since their sole commitment is from the elite five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens. The level of skill position talent new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the coaching staff is building up at the moment in the 2023 class has the makings of something elite.

Sark and the Longhorns should be able to continue to build up this 2023 in the coming months. With the 2022 and 2023 classes both holding bright outlooks this offseason, it’s only a matter of time before more elite commits keep rolling in.

Promising path forward for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class

Texas can also utilize the commitment of Owens to leverage interest from other big-time targets in their 2023 class over the course of the next 12-18 months. That’s something that Texas looks to be doing in their 2022 class, with a fair amount of success thus far.

Boasting a top 10 ranked 2022 class in the National Class Rankings, per 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, is also something that Texas can use as a talking point for targets in their 2023 class. Texas already has numerous blue chip commits in their 2022 class that will establish solid pipelines of talent for years to come on the Forty Acres.

It wouldn’t hurt anything for Sark and his staff to continue to get an early jump on building up their 2023 class. They already have one five-star commit in the mix, and more are likely to come in the next year and a half or so.

Here’s a look into who could be the next five-star commit in the Longhorns 2023 class after the in-state product Owens.
