A new emerging target for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class, four-star Archbishop Carroll athlete Nyckoles Harbor, recently got an offer from new head coach Steve Sarkisian. He is one of the newer targets to watch for the 2023 class since he could bring a new dynamic to the skill positions, or on the defensive side of the ball.

What is pretty exciting about the prospect of prioritizing Harbor as a top target of the Longhorns 2023 class. Bringing in an East Coast product like Harbor could open up new possibilities for the Longhorns recruiting pipeline during the 2023 cycle, and Harbor himself is a unique talent.

According to a Horns247 report from May 13 (paid content), the offer that Harbor received from the Longhorns is a “dream come true”. That is a good sign for the Longhorns too given the fact that Harbor already has quite the array of schools on his offer sheet.

Texas would do well to become one of the front runners early on to land a commitment from Harbor. Sark got this offer in at a good time, potentially putting the Longhorns in an advantageous spot moving forward.

2023 Texas football recruiting class putting ATH Nyckoles Harbor on the radar

It was specifically back on May 12 that Harbor officially announced he had received his Texas scholarship offer. Texas is now the 13th school to send Harbor an offer as of the morning of May 14. But a good portion of his offers have come within the past few weeks.

In fact, the month of May alone so far, Harbor saw offers come in from the Tennessee Volunteers, Oregon Ducks, Purdue Boilermakers, and South Carolina Gamecocks, along with the Longhorns. Some of the other schools to watch on his offer sheet now are the Texas A&M Aggies, Michigan State Spartans, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Maryland Terrapins.

The primary recruiter that the Longhorns have after Harbor is new defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski.

That gives some level of indication that the Longhorns would be looking at Harbor to play either as a linebacker or edge rusher, which he does now at Archbishop Carroll High School. He also can play at tight end at the next level.

At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Harbor brings some insane speed and elusiveness to the table. Stating that the Washington D.C. native has track-level speed doesn’t do him justice. He was timed running a 10.38-second 100-meter dash and at an insane 21.36 seconds in the 200 meter.

Moreover, Harbor ranks as the nation’s No. 88 2023 high school prospect, No. 11 athlete, and the top overall prospect out of Washington D.C. (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 190 high school prospect, No. 20 athlete, and the top overall prospect out of D.C.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2023 Texas recruiting class holds the No. 2 spot in the nation and the top spot in the Big 12 ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners. The lone commit in the Longhorns 2023 class at this point in time is the five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens.
