At roughly the halfway mark of the 2021 offseason, a lot of excitement surrounds the Texas football program amid a few months full of change. New head coach Steve Sarkisian providing a spark for this program could mean big things on the gridiron this fall. But Texas has to follow through on all of the building hype this offseason.

Former head coach Tom Herman also regularly built up a lot of hype for the team each passing offseason. And you could really only say there was one year where Herman and the Longhorns surpassed preseason expectations, which came back during the 2018 campaign.

They did lose a good bit of talented starters on each side of the ball, but as usual, a lot of talent remains on the roster. Losing key starters such as senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger, junior outside linebacker/edge rusher Joseph Ossai, redshirt junior offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi, senior defensive end Ta’Quon Graham, etc. is noteworthy, but not something to panic about.
