Texas Football: 2022 DT commit Kristopher Ross gets his fourth star
In the latest version of the updated 247Sports Composite prospect rankings for the 2022 recruiting cycle, there was a nice bump for one key commit for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive line coach Bo Davis. A recent commit to the 2022 Texas football recruiting class, newly bumped four-star North Shore defensive tackle Kristopher Ross, got a nice rankings boost in the past few weeks.
The 6-foot-3 and 280 pound Houston, TX, native Ross was a three-star prospect when he originally announced his commitment to the Longhorns back on March 23, 2021. But he got boosted to the status of a blue chip recruit officially in the latest update for the 247Sports Composite prospect rankings.
With this latest rankings bump, Ross becomes the second blue chip commit to play along the defensive line in the Longhorns 2022 class. The other is the four-star Brophy College Prep strong-side defensive end Zac Swanson.
This also leaves underrated three-star Arlington Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson as the lone commit in the Longhorns 2022 class that does not hold the status of a blue chip prospect.
Kristopher Ross’ rankings bump giving the 2022 Texas football recruiting class a boost
Having seven of eight commits in the Longhorns 2022 class that are all blue chips signifies the good work that Sark and his coaching staff have done on the recruiting trail in the past few months. And more could be to come for the Longhorns with official visit season starting in roughly two weeks.
Moreover, with the latest composite adjustment, Ross ranks as the nation’s No. 267 2022 high school prospect, No. 20 defensive tackle, and No. 40 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 28 defensive tackle and No. 46 prospect out of Texas.
Ross wound up giving his commitment to Texas over offers from 15 other schools. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are the Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, TCU Horned Frogs, and USC Trojans.
TCU was the lone school to send him a scholarship offer since he announced his commitment to Texas nearly two months ago.
According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 8 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma. The highest-rated commit in the Longhorns 2022 class is four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue.
