Texas Football: 4 underrated 2022 QB’s for the Longhorns to add
Richard Torres, Pro-Style QB
Among the in-state prospects that Sark and the Longhorns could turn to at the quarterback position at this point of the 2022 cycle, the next name up on this list is one that sticks out. The sizable 6-foot-6 and 210 pound Southside (TX) pro-style quarterback Richard Torres is starting to get more attention on the national scene of late.
The San Antonio-area native Torres essentially received every single one of his scholarship offers in the past three months. March was the really hot month for Torres in terms of picking up schools on his growing offer sheet.
Torres was an Elite 11 Regional participant, where he got to show off his solid footwork in the pocket and strong arm to make throws at all levels of the field. He was also recently in attendance for the Nebraska Cornhuskers spring football game.
Visits will be a common occurrence for a quarterback prospect like Torres that has his stock rapidly trending up at the moment. A school like Texas would likely get some traction with Torres if they were to offer him in the near future.
Where the coaching staff can see the type of impact that Torres can make was in the Elite 11 Dallas Regional last month. He made big throws throughout the weekend event and showed the type of potential he can bring to the table at the next level.
Of the eight schools on his offer sheet, the ones to watch could be the Cornhuskers, Kansas State Wildcats, Tulsa Golden Hurricane, and Utah Utes.
Moreover, Torres ranks as the nation’s No. 571 2022 high school prospect, No. 28 pro-style quarterback, and No. 88 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 28 pro-style quarterback and No. 90 prospect out of Texas.
