Texas Basketball: Predicting first 2022 5-Star commit for Chris Beard
Eric Dailey, PF
There are two prospects to watch early on in this recruiting cycle that could really give Beard and the Longhorns a solid foundation in their 2022 class. The first was already mentioned on this list, with the Texas native two-guard George. And the other is the ultra highly coveted five-star IMG Academy 6-foot-7 and 215-pound IMG Academy power forward Eric Dailey.
While Iwuchukwu would be an awesome way for Beard and the Longhorns to kickoff their 2022 class, Dailey and George both rank among the top 20 or 30 NBA-caliber high school prospects in the entire country. Dailey himself would be able to immediately plug losses in the forward rotation that came in the form of Kai Jones and Greg Brown.
Texas currently looks to be amid a group of four or five front runners among the 11 schools on his offer sheet in total. Other potential front runners to watch in the race to land Dailey’s commitment include the Florida Gators, Texas A&M, and Michigan Wolverines. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet include the Iowa State Cyclones, Florida State, and Tennessee Volunteers.
Moreover, Dailey ranks as the nation’s No. 22 2022 high school prospect, No. 6 power forward, and No. 5 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 36 high school prospect, No. 7 power forward, and No. 7 prospect out of Florida.
The sole commit up to this point in the Longhorns 2021 class does play at the same position as Dailey, with the former four-star John Paul II Texas Tech forward commit Jaylon Tyson.
