Texas definitely has a speedster in the mix in their secondary thanks to the signing of the former talented four-star recruit and cornerback Kitan Crawford in their 2020 class. Crawford looked like he could be the type of corner that can make an early impact in his time on the Forty Acres in the bits and pieces of game action he got last fall.

But it wasn’t the time on the field that Crawford got during his true freshman campaign that inspires for what he can bring to the table in terms of raw speed for the Longhorns in 2021. It’s his track-level speed that he showed off during his time running in track and field-type settings in high school, and when he was timed in drills during the recruiting process.

Crawford has reportedly recorded multiple sub-11.00 second 100 meter dash times, which is pretty blazing fast. And he has recorded a personal best time heading into the Longhorns football program for the 100 meter dash at 10.6 seconds.

There are times when a player with as much raw speed as Crawford don’t have their skill sets translate at the cornerback position to the college or pro level. But it looks like that won’t be the case for the rising 5-foot-11 and 185 pound sophomore. In bits and pieces of four games played last season, Crawford registered seven combined tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass breakups, and didn’t allow any touchdown catches in coverage assignments.
