During his time with Cuero High School, the to-be redshirt sophomore Texas wide receiver and former elite five-star recruit Jordan Whittington did it all on both sides of the ball. In the state finals in 2018, Whittington wound up as both the offensive and defensive MVP for Cuero en route to a win.

The type of versatility that raw talent that Whittington brings to the table is highlighted by his elusiveness and speed in the open field. He is incredibly difficult to bring down. It’s just a shame that injuries have held him back from reaching his true potential over the course of the last two seasons. We did see bits and pieces, though, of what he could do for this Texas offense last fall.

There were times when Whittington was absolutely electric in how fast he could get to the outside and burn opposing defenders. He also showed off his speed and versatility last season by averaging nearly 17 yards per carry on three rushing attempts.

Whittington had an electric shuttle time that he was able to run during his recruitment, timed at just over four seconds. And he did run track in the relay during his time at Cuero.

Texas fans should get to see what the speed of Whittington truly brings to the table this fall, as he could have a breakthrough third year on the Forty Acres.
