A wide receiver in the transfer portal this offseason that has one of the highest ceilings of any skill position player available is the former Florida State blue-chip recruit and 6-foot-3 and 200-pound sophomore Warren Thompson. The Noles weren’t really able to maximize the potential of Thompson in their passing game.

And that was a notable storyline for Florida State in the final season under former head coach Jimbo Fisher, along with Willie Taggart and the beginning of the Mike Norvell tenure. Thompson is just one of multiple former blue-chip recruits for Florida State to show up in the transfer portal up to this point of the offseason.

During his two years playing for the Noles, Thompson registered 11 catches for 195 receiving yards (17.7 yards per catch), and one touchdown catch. His first career touchdown catch came last fall, which he notched against the NC State Wolfpack.

Since Thompson has only played in bits and pieces of less than nine games in his career to date, he’s going to be a tremendous value find for some team this offseason. He’s got a long way to go in his development, but should still have a bright future ahead.

Texas could get another versatile outside receiver to add to their arsenal if they got a commitment out of Thompson. It would be pretty incredible depth among outside receivers for Texas to have both Thompson and redshirt freshman Troy Omeire.
