Starting off this list is one potential transfer portal target that I have discussed before as a possibility for the Longhorns to pursue this offseason. Former Xavier Musketeers 6-foot-2 and 190-pound sophomore guard KyKy Tandy is a name to watch for multiple programs entering the summer months, particularly ones that need backcourt help like Texas.

Given that Beard and the Longhorns could use some help from a switchable guard like Tandy, a move to the Forty Acres could make sense for all parties involved. And the Longhorns don’t really have a guard in the mix at the moment that could fill a role in the backcourt rotation that way that Tandy could with his reliable shooting and improving facilitating ability.

Few guards in the Big East saw a higher level of improvement between their freshman and sophomore campaigns than Tandy did during the 2020-21 campaign. The former Big East All-Freshman Team selection was much better last season than in his first with Xavier.

In 18 games played last season, Tandy averaged 6.6 points per game, 1.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks. And he shot 37.9 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line. Tandy could become an immediate impact player that would likely be more efficient out of the gates for Texas than another transfer guard like Askew, who has a higher ceiling but will take longer to develop.
