Earlier this week, we took our first look at how the Hook’em Headlines NCAA Transfer Portal big board shook out for the Texas basketball program at the point guard position at this point of the offseason. But the problem for new Texas head coach Chris Beard and his squad is that the point guard position just isn’t all that strong in the transfer portal at the moment.

Beard and the Longhorns don’t have many options to bolster their rotation at the point guard position by way of the transfer portal right now, but that could all change. There is way more transfer portal movement happening around the college hoops landscape this offseason than there was in the last few years.

And this is something that Beard has largely been able to take advantage of since he landed on the Forty Acres from his prior position. Prior to getting hired to replace the departed Shaka Smart as the next Texas head coach on April 1, Beard was the Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach for five seasons.

Beard already has four big transfer portal additions to the roster this offseason, and it looks like he will sign one more with four-star John Paul II small forward Jaylon Tyson in the 2021 recruiting class. But the Longhorns still have a plethora of positional needs to address for the rest of the offseason.

Here’s a look at the next position group up on the list, and the transfer portal big board at shooting guard for the Longhorns this offseason.
