One of the out-of-state linebackers to watch without a doubt as official visit season approaches around the college football recruiting landscape is the talented and potent four-star 6-foot-3 and 210 pound Evanston Township inside linebacker Sebastian Cheeks. The Illinois native blue-chip linebacker recruit looks like a five-star prospect when you watch a lot of his film and highlights.

The strength and overall gifted physical tools can jump off the screen at you. He looks physically ready to make an immediate impact at the college level, and he’s still got one more season of high school football left.

As of the afternoon of May 27, Texas is one of just two schools that has an official visit on the books with Cheeks set for next month. In fact, the only other school that has an official visit scheduled with Cheeks for June is the North Carolina Tar Heels and former Texas head coach Mack Brown. This could wind up being an interesting battle on the recruiting trail between schools like Texas and North Carolina.

Texas is set to have its official visit with Cheeks on June 11. And UNC is set to get him in that first weekend of official visits, on June 4.

Other potential schools to watch in the pursuit of Cheeks’ commitment include the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Michigan Wolverines, and Wisconsin Badgers. It is mostly in-state and Big Ten schools that look to be front runners in the race to land Cheeks.

Moreover, Cheeks ranks as the nation’s No. 125 2022 high school prospect, No. 14 inside linebacker, and No. 4 prospect out of Illinois (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 153 high school prospect, No. 12 inside linebacker, and No. 4 prospect out of Illinois.
