In-state targets will rule the day for the Longhorns during the 2022 recruiting cycle. The state of Texas has a lot of talent for the Longhorns to try and get for this cycle, which could get promising results ahead for Beard. More good news is that Beard had offered a good number of these 2022 high school prospects when he was the Texas Tech head coach.

And while this isn’t the case with the talented four-star Coppell 6-foot-7 and 185-pound combo guard Anthony Black, the Longhorns look to be among the frontrunners to get him when it’s all said and done. Texas is one of two schools going after Black that are currently set to get him to campus for an official visit next month.

This Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area product Black received an offer from the former Texas head coach Smart back in February. But it is now Beard and Texas assistant coach Ulric Maligi that are going after the commitment of Black.

It looks like Texas has made some headway in the pursuit of Black too. The most recent of the expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions has the commitment of Black landing with Texas over the rest of the competition.

Texas is scheduled to host an official visit with Black on June 9. And the other official visit on the books with Black right now is with the Iowa State Cyclones on June 22. It is also worth watching the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys in pursuit of Black.
