A hot topic of discussion this offseason for the Texas football program and new head coach Steve Sarkisian had to do with the movement in the NCAA Transfer Portal. While the movement in the transfer portal for Sark and Texas slowed of late, it played a big role in the configuration of the roster earlier in the offseason.

And the movement in and out of the transfer portal for Sark and the Longhorns might not be done anytime soon. Texas still could fill some voids in their roster before it’s all said and done during the summer months. On the contrary, hopefully, that doesn’t mean that the Longhorns are going to have more losses to the transfer portal this offseason.

Impact of transfer additions in 2021 for Texas football HC Steve Sarkisian

Some of the key additions for the Longhorns out of the transfer portal so far this offseason included former Notre Dame edge rusher Ovie Oghoufo, LSU linebacker Ray Thornton, and Alabama linebacker Ben Davis. In total, Texas has five additions out of the transfer portal this offseason.

The other two are former New Mexico State linebacker Devin Richardson and McNeese State cornerback Darion Dunn.

Texas still mostly looks to have needs that they could fill on the defensive side of the ball. There are still some reports coming about every once in a while that Sark and the Longhorns could be looking in the portal at this point of the offseason to fill various positional needs on defense.

If Texas is to still look in the portal heading into the summer months, which instant difference makers could be there for the taking for Sark?
