Another recent transfer portal entrant that doesn’t look to be on the Longhorns’ radar at the moment, but certainly could be if they don’t land a commitment from the ex-Tulsa corner Evans, is the former Kansas Jayhawks freshman breakout cornerback Karon Prunty.

The Kansas program is in all sorts of turmoil this offseason after losing their second-year head coach Les Miles and seeing a lot of talent enter the transfer portal. Prunty is the latest of the costly losses that the Jayhawks might have to replace this offseason. He could be a real gem find for any team looking for help at the cornerback position this offseason.

And with corner still looking like a position of need for Texas, pursuing Prunty would make a lot of sense. Prunty was named a Freshman All-American last season, and it’s easy to see why given his production during his first year with the Jayhawks. He was one of the few bright spots for a defense that had a rough showing last fall.

In nine games played last season, Prunty registered 26 combined tackles, one tackle for loss, no sacks, one interception, a whopping nine pass breakups, and one forced fumble. The 6-foot-1 and 185-pound corner ranked in the top three in the Big 12 last year in pass breakups and in the top 25 in the FBS.

There’s sure to be a plethora of suitors after Prunty in the transfer portal in the coming weeks, but Texas might be one of those programs that pitches him in the near future.
