Any position group that has a lot of turnover heading into the 2021 season will have a lot of looming question marks. That’s just a given under any new coaching staff, or really for any team that experiences a lot of roster attrition in any given offseason.

But in this case for Sark and the Longhorns, the receiving corps both has a lot of question marks and is of critical importance for the success of the team as a whole in 2021. When Sark was the offensive coordinator with the Alabama Crimson Tide, having a solid receiving corps year in and year out made a difference between winning conference and national titles, or falling short.

This is why it is so important to develop younger players starting this year, such as the former talented four-star recruit and redshirt freshman wide receiver Troy Omeire. The 6-foot-3 and 230-pound Omeire could be someone that helps Texas replace the lost production of former junior wide receiver Brennan Eagles this year.

As someone who looked to be a potential breakout candidate for the Longhorns last year, Omeire could have a much larger role with the offense this fall. He experienced a season-ending knee injury before his true freshman campaign could even get started last year. Hence summer workouts will be a time of key importance for Omeire to get back up and running with the receivers.

Texas will have a lot to figure out in the receiving corps this fall, including where Omeire fits into the picture. He could be a starter right away if he makes the right impression on the coaching staff throughout the rest of the offseason.
