Especially following the addition of former Alabama Crimson Tide sophomore running back Keilan Robinson out of the transfer portal for the Texas football program, this team looks ready to go for the 2021 season on the offensive side of the ball. It seems like all of the buzz surrounding the Texas offense now lies in the running back room.

And that makes a lot of sense since the Longhorns are stacked at running back entering the fall. After the addition of Robinson out of the transfer portal last weekend, Texas now has a bona fide standout trio that could rank among the best in the entire country.

Some of the important names to watch in the Texas running back room are sophomore star Bijan Robinson, junior Roschon Johnson, seniors Gabriel Watson and Daniel Young, and incoming freshman Jonathon Brooks. The trio of Keilan, Bijan, and Roschon is really the group to watch out of the Texas backfield, though.

The media hype is also building around this trio. Namely, Bijan is the one gaining a lot of the hype and rightly so. Joel Klatt mentioned this week that he reportedly believes that Bijan is “the best RB in the country”. Klatt usually has some strong opinions (that can swing in either direction) relating to the Longhorns. This is nice to hear for the star Texas running back.

That potent trio out of the backfield for the Longhorns will be led by Bijan. He was as hot as any running back in the nation to round out last season. Bijan averaged north of 18 yards per carry and 18 yards per catch in the final two games of his true freshman campaign.

Considering that Bijan also looked great for Texas in spring drills and the Orange-White Game, there’s ample reason to believe he will be great for this team in 2021. Klatt has a point about this running back potentially being the best at his position in the country this fall.

Last season, Robinson registered 703 rushing yards on 86 carries (8.2 yards per carry), four rushing touchdowns, 196 receiving yards, and two touchdown catches. A lot of that production came in the last two games of the season, though.

Texas finished up last season with a record of 7-3 (5-3 Big 12) under the direction of former head coach Tom Herman. The Longhorns will open up the 2021 regular season at home on Sep. 4 against Louisiana.
