With official visit season already having arrived on the Forty Acres, the time for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class to heat up on the trail again doesn’t seem too far away. Texas hosted a few prospects of the 2022 class and then the 2023 class last weekend.

They also landed a commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal that was a target for a visit last weekend in the former Alabama Crimson Tide sophomore running back Keilan Robinson. Getting a commitment from Robinson puts new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns over five additions to the team out of the transfer portal now so far this offseason.

With a lot of the activity for Sark and the Longhorns now likely to start winding down in the transfer portal heading into the summer months, a lot of the attention now turns to the recruiting trail among high school targets. Specifically, now is the time for Sark and the Longhorns to get rolling with some commitments in their 2022 class.

A spark just around the corner for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class?

There was a big spark that Sark found on the recruiting trail for his 2022 and 2023 classes in February and March. But that spark largely died down since the conclusion of spring ball, and even for a few weeks before then.

This does feel like a time, in the middle of the biggest visitor month of the offseason, that the Longhorns can get rolling on the recruiting trail. In order to get that done, though, Texas needs to beat out some of their rival schools on the trail for top targets of their 2022 class.

Here’s a look into three prospects that it looks like the Longhorns could win over the rival Oklahoma Sooners for their 2022 class.
