The most important part of the Texas baseball season to date is about to arrive on the night of June 12 at Disch-Falk Field. Texas fans await their team in burnt orange and white taking the field at the Disch this weekend to start off Super Regionals against a really hot South Florida Bulls team out of the American Athletic Conference.

Head coach David Pierce and the Longhorns are rolling on the diamond after a dominant showing in Regionals. Texas got through the Austin Regional (hosted at the Disch) unscathed against a decent field of teams. Texas beat the four-seed Southern Jaguars, three-seed Fairfield Stags, and two-seed Arizona State Sun Devils in the Austin Regional by a combined margin of 28 runs.

Only five runs were scored in the Texas pitching staff during the Austin Regional. After a pretty early exit in the Big 12 Tournament a couple of weeks ago, the Longhorns are headed in the right direction at the perfect time.

Texas baseball and Ty Madden rolling into Super Regionals to face USF

Both Texas and USF are rolling right now. Texas had one of the most impressive showings of any team around the college baseball landscape in Regionals by going undefeated. Meanwhile, USF has essentially gone unscathed since the AAC Conference Championship Game, where they knocked off their in-state rival UCF Knights.

The first pitcher set to get the mound for the Longhorns in Super Regionals this weekend will be the redshirt sophomore right-hander Ty Madden. For USF, right-hander Jack Jasiak will get the call as the starting pitcher in the first game in this weekend series to decide the Austin Super Regional.

Madden comes into this game with a record of 7-4 on the season, with a stellar 2.59 earned run average. Meanwhile, Jasiak enters with a record of 6-7 on the season, and with an also stellar 2.89 ERA.

The second meeting in the Austin Super Regional between Texas and USF will see another solid pitching matchup. Texas will give the start to redshirt junior right-hander Tristan Stevens in the second game of the Super Regional, against the improving Collin Sullivan for the Bulls.

Madden and the Longhorns will look to get their 46th win of the season if they can topple USF on June 12. First pitch between Texas and USF at the Disch on June 12 is set for 8 p.m. CT. The winner will move one step closer to a berth in the College World Series in Omaha.
