A lot of the movement in the transfer portal for the Tigers on the defensive side of the ball of late had to do with the loss of cornerbacks last month. Mizzou has now lost multiple defensive backs to the transfer portal, which opened up the opportunity to get Evans the pitch of immediate playing time as a primary cornerback this fall.

That wound up being something that looked like a slam dunk for Mizzou, but all of the lost cornerback depth this offseason could still hurt them come the 2021 regular season. One other key cornerback that Mizzou lost last month is the former drastically underrated three-star recruit and 6-foot-1 and 190-pound junior Jarvis Ware.

Texas would be getting a nice pickup in Ware in the sense that he would still have two years of remaining eligibility, despite coming in with three seasons of proven production from his time at Mizzou. Ware also fits a similar role to what new co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coaches Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate could’ve had for Evans.

Ware is a lengthy corner who showed in the past two seasons that he can play well in one-on-one coverage. Having those rangy and athletic corners is key for what Kwiatkowski liked to do both with the defenses with the Washington Huskies and Boise State Broncos. The same could be said for past coaching jobs of the former Montana State head coach Choate.

During his three years playing for Mizzou, Ware registered 50 combined tackles, one tackle for loss, no sacks, one interception (which was returned for a touchdown), five pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.
