Texas Baseball: No. 2 Horns set to open CWS vs. Mississippi State
On the night of June 13, head coach David Pierce and No. 2 ranked Texas baseball delivered a huge win over the South Florida Bulls to advance past the Austin Super Regional to their first appearance in the College World Series since 2018. Texas downed USF in two straight games in the Austin Super Regional at Disch-Falk Field last weekend in order to advance to their second College World Series under Pierce.
Texas actually got through the Austin Regional and Super Regional at the Disch unscathed in five games. They worked through the quad of teams that included the Fairfield Stags, Southern Jaguars, Arizona State Sun Devils, and USF. The most impressive showing did not come in the Austin Super Regional, which goes to show just how dominant the Longhorns were in the postseason thus far.
There aren’t many hotter teams heading into the College World Series in Omaha this week as the Longhorns. Texas now carries a record of 47-15 heading into the College World Series, following their convincing 12-4 win over USF at the Disch on June 13. They quickly turned it around following a somewhat early exit from the Big 12 Tournament a few weeks back.

Mississippi State also worked through its regional unscathed, taking down the Campbell Fighting Camels, VCU Rams, and Samford Bulldogs, without issue.
The first day of games in Omaha at the College World Series begins at 1 p.m. CT on June 19 with the NC State Wolfpack taking on the Stanford Cardinal. NC State had a massive rally in the Fayetteville Super Regional to knock off the No. 1 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks and make it through to Omaha.

This is the 37th time that Texas is heading to the College World Series, which is tops in college baseball history. That slots only behind the USC Trojans, who have a dozen.
