Among the very top targets for the Longhorns 2022 class that have come to the forefront this month for Beard is the elite five-star iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy shooting guard Keyonte George. If Texas doesn’t strike gold and manage to land a commitment from the five-star small forward Emoni Bates, then George is about the best that could possibly happen.

And with Bates seemingly headed to take the professional route immediately instead of the more traditional college route, his chances of landing with Texas seem increasingly slim. But we’ll have to continue to watch what happens with his recruitment in the decisive summer months on the trail.

George is one that the Longhorns look to have a more realistic chance of landing. The two most recent expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have George’s commitment landing with Texas over the rest of the field. Following an official visit with Beard and the Longhorns earlier this month, George seems to be having some real traction with this staff.

Early this week, the defending National Champion Baylor Bears and head coach Scott Drew hosted George for a visit in Waco. And there’s still one more official visit on the books for George this month, which is set to come with head coach John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats on June 21. It is also important to watch other competing schools for George like the Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Still, Texas looks like the school to beat at the moment to get George if he does take to the traditional college route.
