Texas Football: TCU making a push for 4-Star CB commit Jaylon Guilbeau
A big weekend of official and unofficial visits just wrapped up for targets of the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian wrapped up a big week on the recruiting trail by landing one key commitment, and likely building momentum with a number of other key 2022 and 2023 visitors from last weekend.
There were more than a dozen visitors, official and unofficial, on the Forty Acres last weekend in what could be the biggest of visit season this month. Last weekend was the time to visit unofficially for the Longhorns’ top targets in the 2023 class, including key names such as five-star quarterback Arch Manning and four-star wide receiver Johntay Cook.
The emphasis on key commits in the Longhorns 2022 class should still remain at this point, though. Texas will have a few of their commits in the 2022 and 2023 classes off on other visits this month.
One particular key commit to watch for the Longhorns 2022 class that was recently off on another visit this month is the four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau. Among the commits that still exist in the 2022 class, Guilbeau was the first.
According to a report from Horns247 on June 15 (paid content), Guilbeau took an official visit with head coach Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs last weekend. That is worth watching since the Horned Frogs have gone after a number of Texas targets both on the recruiting trail and in the NCAA Transfer Portal in the past 18 months.
TCU has a lot to gain if they’re able to get Guilbeau as a hallmark commit in their 2022 class. But this report from Horns247 looked to signal that this visit was nothing to truly worry about for Texas fans for the time being.

Texas is also set to host an important official visit with Guilbeau later this month, specifically on June 25. That looks to be the final visit that Guilbeau has on the books at this moment for the summer.
If there are any other schools that try to make a play for Guilbeau, it looks like it could be one of the Horned Frogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and/or the Michigan Wolverines. But it’s hard to tell who beyond TCU is really looking into Guilbeau right now.
Texas originally landed the commitment from Guilbeau on Sep. 19, 2020, right in the middle of the Quinn Ewers craze. But the destruction of the Longhorns 2022 class under the direction of former head coach Tom Herman did do a number on this group, but Guilbeau remained as the lone commit for a while.
Texas and TCU are two of the two dozen schools on Guilbeau’s offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are the Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.
Moreover, Guilbeau ranks as the nation’s No. 140 2022 high school prospect, No. 17 cornerback, and No. 28 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 66 high school prospect, No. 8 cornerback, and No. 15 prospect out of Texas.
Texas is doing well on the recruiting trail right now, landing commitments from ATH Anthony Jones and K Will Stone within the past week.
