Offensive game

Texas is mostly going to feel the impact (in a positive sense) that Mitchell brings to the table for them on the offensive end of the floor. Mitchell was one of the absolute most dominant offensive bigs in the A-10 in the past two seasons. He averaged 18.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.2 turnovers, last season in particular. And he shot 51.9 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 76.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The advanced metrics also lined up nicely for Mitchell on the offensive end of the floor. He registered a career-best 8.3 box plus/minus last season, along with .215 win shares per 40 minutes, 2.3 total win shares, 61.3 true shooting percentage, and a 26.8 player efficiency rating.

On the offensive end of the floor in particular, the advanced metrics that Mitchell registered last season were very solid. He ranked seventh in the A-10 last season in offensive rating (118), third in offensive box plus/minus (6.3), and third in points produced per game (17.2).

There is some consistency to note in Mitchell’s offensive game, while other areas are maturing in the past two seasons. He registered a 15.6 assist percentage in each of his first two seasons in college, but his turnover late lowered by nearly five percentage points last season.

His true shooting percentage and effective field goal percentage also rose up by at least four points each.

It is also pretty remarkable how consistent Mitchell remained in the way of his per game stats split between home, road, and neutral site games. He averaged between 17-20 points per game, 7-8 rebounds, and 1.5-2.5 assists, in all of those situations in his career to date.

It should be known that Mitchell is going to be a consistent force on the offensive end by all indications for the Longhorns frontcourt unit moving forward.
