It really looks like it will be up to Sark and the Longhorns individually if they want to pursue the former Oklahoma State Cowboys three-star cornerback commit and Southlake Carroll product Avyonne Jones in the near future. Texas looked like they would extend an offer Jones’ way just a few weeks ago, but that has yet to come to fruition.

Jones’ decommitment from Oklahoma State came back on May 23, and Texas was in contact with him just a few days later. But now there are other schools that are pushing much harder to land the commitment of Jones this summer. Oklahoma State also looks to be remaining at the forefront of the recruitment of Jones.

Nonetheless, Jones is still a target worth noting for Longhorns fans since he could be an option to still provide depth in the secondary in the 2022 class. Texas would need to first send a scholarship offer Jones’ way for progress to be made on this front, but this is certainly still on the table.

Jones has a few official visits scheduled for this month including with the Arizona Wildcats (June 4), Colorado Buffaloes (June 11), Louisville Cardinals (June 25), and Wisconsin Badgers (June 17). At this point, really the last significant visit that Jones has on the books is with Louisville. T

There are honestly some higher-rated corners that Texas is going after right now, namely five-star North Shore product Denver Harris and four-star John Paul II product Terrance Brooks. Jones would be more of an option if those two are off the board.
