Just like the Longhorns still have a real shot to get the commitment of 2023 running back Owens back when it’s all said and done, they could do the same with the elite five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart. As one of the initial five-star commits (at the time) in the Longhorns 2022 class in the couple of months that followed the news of the hiring of Sark as the next Texas head coach, Stewart looked like a real big get for this group.

Stewart still could be one of the five-star commits that can be a marquee prospect for the Longhorns 2022 class and Sark. Second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman and new special teams coordinator Jeff Banks still appear to very much be in the running to get the commitment of Stewart back at this point.

He was also on the Forty Acres for an official visit over the weekend.

Stewart also has other top schools after him like Florida, USC, LSU, and Alabama. Those are some of the top competitors that Texas will face on the recruiting trail to get the commitment of Stewart back at some point.

The commitment of Stewart to the Longhorns originally came on Feb. 18. That just resulted in Texas losing the commitment of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex native on March 11. Texas will have to win the long game to get Stewart back in their 2022 class.

Stewart is another elite five-star skill position prospect that Sark didn’t have great luck with back in winter after he was first hired. He ranks as the nation’s No. 35 2022 high school prospect, No. 4 wide receiver, and No. 10 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 37 high school prospect, No. 5 wide receiver, and No. 11 prospect out of Texas.
