Alshon Jeffery, WR

Quite the group of interesting names at the wide receiver position for Sark have decommitted from past recruiting classes that he had a hand in. Stewart and the former South Carolina Gamecocks star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery were just two of the uber-talented wideouts that Sark lost a commitment from at one point in time during his college football coaching career.

Jeffery was actually originally committed to USC when Sark was the offensive coordinator in the late 2000s. The South Carolina native was a potent name among a group of highly-touted skill position players that mostly didn’t live up to the hype for the Trojans. What was unique about Jeffery was the fact that he was the lone blue-chip to decommit from the Trojans 2009 recruiting class.

And that was a USC class that featured high-profile names such as five-star quarterback Matt Barkley, four-star outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, five-star defensive end Davon Kennard, and five-star safety T.J. McDonald, among others. Jeffery actually would’ve become the most successful USC signee in that 2009 class had he stuck around with Sark.

Jeffery actually wound up joining a much more proven 2009 class with South Carolina. Other signees in South Carolina’s 2009 class included star cornerback Stephon Gilmore, safety D.J. Swearinger, and defensive end Chaz Sutton.

During his three years playing at South Carolina, Jeffery registered 183 catches for 3,042 receiving yards (16.6 yards per catch), and 23 touchdown catches.
