Texas Basketball: 3 players ready to become stars under Chris Beard
A lot of attention paid to new head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program in the past few months in terms of the way this roster is getting built up will start to phase into how it performs on the court in a matter of another four or five months. Texas men’s hoops is going to sport a nearly completely turned-over roster heading into next season compared to last.
Former head coach Shaka Smart saw a lot of the roster from last season and the 2021 recruiting class leave with him back in late March. Every single one of the previous four signees in the Longhorns 2021 hoops recruiting class left, a lot of them with Smart to the Marquette Golden Eagles, for other homes after the former head coach’s departure to his home state of Wisconsin.

However, Texas might have an even better and more well-rounded roster heading into next season than they did last. Texas has multiple additions out of the NCAA Transfer Portal already. And the latest addition out of the transfer portal for Beard and the Longhorns came from the former UMass Minutemen star sophomore center Tre Mitchell.
But the process is not done for Beard and the Longhorns this offseason in terms of figuring out how the rotation will look heading into next season. Knowing who fits where among the new additions for the Longhorns basketball program will be key for Beard and his staff.
