What will be the final big visit weekend of the month for big targets of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class is transpiring right now on campus in Austin. New head coach Steve Sarkisian gets his final shot during this first month back of official and unofficial visitors with the program. This is also the first big month of official and unofficial visits for many top 2022 and 2023 high school prospects

This weekend of official and unofficial visitors is so critical for Sark and the Longhorns given how many of these prospects could announce their decisions in the coming weeks. Texas hasn’t landed a single blue-chip commit for their 2022 or 2023 class during the month of June. But the dry streak on the recruiting trail in terms of landing blue-chip prospects could end as soon as by the weekend of July 4.

According to a report from Horns247 this weekend (paid content), Texas has confirmed an unofficial visit with the elite five-star Bowie (TX) offensive tackle Devon Campbell for the weekend. Texas is reportedly hosting two big unofficial visitors on campus this weekend, Campbell and four-star St. John Bosco offensive lineman Earnest Greene.

Importance of the unofficial visit for Texas football with 5-Star OT Devon Campbell

Getting Campbell to campus for a visit this month was expected, but it wasn’t officially confirmed until the morning of June 26. This is going down as an unofficial visit, but this could still keep Texas in high favor with the elite in-state product.

With Campbell looking to have a few other successful official visits this month, it’s key for Texas to make sure that he doesn’t get out of their sights. Two of the more significant visits Campbell had this month came with the rival Oklahoma Sooners and USC Trojans.

The month of official visits started for Campbell with his trip to USC with head coach Clay Helton back on June 4.

This could also be the final visit that Campbell takes this month with his trip to the Forty Acres this weekend. If Texas could get the final word this month among the visits for Campbell, that would be huge.

Texas, USC, and Oklahoma, are three of the more than 30 schools on Campbell’s lengthy offer sheet. Some of the other significant schools on his offer sheet are the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Campbell is one of the highest-rated prospects that looks to be on Texas’ radar at the moment. He ranks as the nation’s No. 10 2022 high school prospect, top overall interior offensive lineman, and No. 3 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).
