The agency that has the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James, Golden State Warriors star forward Draymond Green, Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons, New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball, etc. just signed a former member of the Texas basketball program. Former Texas senior standout center Jericho Sims reportedly signed with Klutch Sports Group this week.

Sims and former breakthrough Texas sophomore power forward Kai Jones both signed with Klutch Sports Group this offseason. Those were the two former Longhorns that signed with Klutch in this 2021 NBA Draft class.

The other former Longhorn that is worth noting in this draft class, freshman power forward Greg Brown, signed with BDA Sports. That is the same agency that had the likes of Steve Nash, Rajon Rondo, and Luka Doncic as clients.

Sims is starting to see his draft stock rise dramatically in recent weeks. Really since a solid showing for Sims at the 2021 NBA Draft Combine last week, Sims started to gain a lot of traction with media and scouts at the next level.

The real question for Sims is if this will be enough for him to at least be a second-round draft pick in this year’s class. For a good while now, Sims looked like he was very likely to fall as an undrafted free agent given how deep this draft class is.

But a quick rise up draft boards of late could help Sims at least get selected come draft night next month.

And joining Klutch affirms that Sims will not be returning to the Forty Acres for another year. That already looked to be the case since Sims participated in the combine in Chicago last week. But signing with an agent is usually the finishing touch to a player leaving the college ranks.

Moreover, the two most notable former Longhorns that are also signed with Klutch that are currently in the NBA are point guard Cory Joseph and big man Tristan Thompson. Jones and Sims will join those ranks in the near future, though.

The night of the 2021 NBA Draft is set to take place on July 29. Former Longhorns to watch on draft night include the trio of Sims, Brown, and Jones, along with the ex-standout senior guard Matt Coleman.
