The original anticipated July 4 commitment that the Longhorns were going to zone in on was the four-star West Brook safety Bryce Anderson. But with Anderson set to push his decision timeline back at least until later in the summer, the July 4 commitment to watch for this 2022 class is now the four-star St. Peters Prep (NJ) defensive lineman KJ Miles.

As one of the more recent targets coming to the forefront for the Longhorns, Miles is someone that could definitely boost the stock of this defensive line in the 2022 class. The 6-foot-3 and 290-pound New Jersey native was on campus for an official visit with Texas last weekend, specifically on June 25.

Other key visits that Miles took this month came with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (June 11) and the Wisconsin Badgers (June 17). Those are likely the other two schools to watch that could land the commitment of Miles during the holiday weekend.

Texas has new defensive line coach Bo Davis (formerly of the Detroit Lions) and offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Kyle Flood as the top recruiters pursuing Miles.

There are no expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions in yet for Miles, as it doesn’t seem like they’re ready to put those in yet. But the Rivals FutureCast does have all of their analysts and publishers picking Miles’ commitment to land with Wisconsin.

This will be a highly anticipated announcement this weekend that looks to be very much a toss-up between Texas, Georgia Tech, and Wisconsin. But it was good for Texas to get the last word during visit season this month with Miles.
