Texas Football: 3 commits that Sark could land this week
Terrance Brooks, CB
What seems like the least likely of the prospects that is announcing this week for Texas to get a commitment from the talented four-star John Paul II (TX) cornerback Terrance Brooks. While the Longhorns have recruited much better out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for the past few cycles, this one doesn’t feel like it is likely to fall in their favor over the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
But the decision of Brooks seems to have narrowed during the month of June, as Texas did do well on his official visit back on June 18. The fact that Brooks has a decision date set following his last official visit, which came with the Crimson Tide on June 25, doesn’t look too good for Texas.
There are some early indicators that Brooks could have his decision narrowed down to both Alabama and Texas. A chance does still exist that Brooks could wind up with the Longhorns. Just because his last official visit came with Alabama doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to get his pledge this week.
Texas has new cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph as the primary recruiter pursuing Brooks. Meanwhile, Alabama has former Texas cornerbacks coach Jay Valai and safeties coach Charles Kelly as the top recruiters for Brooks.
There’s no doubt that it would be massive for the Longhorns to land a commitment from Brooks. He is set to announce his decision on the afternoon of June 30, so we will know where he intends to take his talents to soon.
