It almost seems like a sure thing that likely the most well-known Longhorns basketball player returning in 2021 would have a nice chance to ink himself some sponsorship deals out of the gates with the new NIL ruling. Rising senior guard and former four-star recruit Courtney Ramey will return this season likely with a lot of fanfare.

Texas saw Ramey have his best regular season of his career during the 2020-21 campaign, under former head coach Shaka Smart. His play remained consistent on the defensive end of the floor throughout his run with the Longhorns thus far. But the consistency with his offensive production has inched along through the past three seasons.

Maybe Ramey’s senior campaign is where he can now put it all together on and off the court. The brand name he’s built for himself on the Forty Acres could make that happen as far as the NIL ruling goes.

And since Texas is losing so many key faces from last season’s team, the return of Ramey will benefit his NIL value even more than the rest of the projected Longhorns players heading into next season. That is true at least in terms of his regional value in sponsorship deals it would seem.

Ramey looks like he could once again be one of the top scorers for the Longhorns this season, along with some of the new transfer portal additions and redshirt senior shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones. It’s hard to overlook that type of value that he brings to the table in the NIL discussion.
