With visit season wrapping up last weekend, the 2022 Texas football recruiting class is looking to hit the ground running with the resumption of the dead period. But this is a time where new head coach Steve Sarkisian will have to sit and wait with his staff to see what the fruits of their labor bring along.

Texas started off the dead period on the right foot this week by landing a commitment from the four-star Tyler Legacy (TX) running back Jamarion Miller. Getting the number of commits in the Longhorns 2022 class up to a dozen was a nice way to mark the beginning of the dead period. And it all started with shoring up one of the more important position groups for Sark to hit on for this group.

Not all decisions will bring success for Texas football recruiting this week

Miller brings the tally of blue-chip running back commits in the Longhorns 2022 class up to two. Texas also has a commitment from four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue in this class.

What could come next for the Longhorns might not be all that far away. Texas is looking at a huge number of decisions arriving this week following the conclusion of visit season. If Texas doesn’t come out of the rest of the week with at least one or two more commits in the 2022 class, it will largely be considered a disappointment.

But there are sure to be some notable misses that will happen for the Longhorns this week. That is just the nature of this game on the recruiting trail. Texas can’t land everyone.

Yet, here’s a look into three prospects that Texas is likely to miss out on that look to be announcing their decision this week.
