At this point of the offseason, new head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program look to be coming close to rounding out the rotation ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season. Texas men’s hoops remained busy in the NCAA Transfer Portal so far this offseason, trying to build out an effective rotation to compete in the Big 12 and on a national basis.

The latest addition out of the transfer portal for Beard and the Longhorns came in the form of the former UMass Minutemen star sophomore center Tre Mitchell. That most recent addition out of the transfer portal for the Longhorns came last month, but there could be a couple more on the way before it’s all said and done for the roster movement this summer.

July could see another big transfer addition for the Texas basketball program

Texas now has more than five key transfer portal additions this offseason. Some of the more notable of those include the former Kentucky Wildcats freshman guard Devin Askew, Vanderbilt Commodores sophomore power forward Dylan Disu, and Creighton Blue Jays junior forward Christian Bishop.

The questions will keep coming, though, as to who could be next for Beard and the Longhorns in terms of commitments out of the transfer portal during the summer months. And that’s what we’ll be trying to answer here with any potential transfer additions during the month of July.

Texas should be starting to turn the page to focus on camp ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season. But there could still be some roster additions in the meantime. Here’s a look at three names to watch in the transfer portal in July for Beard and the Longhorns.
