Cole Hutson, IOL

One of the two most recent additions to the Longhorns 2022 class arrived on July 2 and could be one of the biggest pieces of this group a few years down the road. If Hutson winds up signing with Texas during the Early Signing Period or National Signing Day as anticipated, then he will be able to become one of the early contributors for this offensive line.

Hutson has a well-rounded game right now that could make him ready to become a starter early in his college career. Up front, Hutson excels blocking for the ground game first which is what could make him an excellent schematic fit with Sark. The general Sark offensive philosophy is gashing opponents on the ground and then beating them over the top with the deep passing game.

The way that Hutson’s skill set could fit into this offense makes him the ideal offensive linemen to plug up the interior. Hutson has a high motor and is able to get through multiple levels of the defense when blocking for the ground game. Hutson can excel for long enough hold up the pocket, granted a lot of questions remain when the quarterback is scrambling.

That would be a question mark for Hutson when blocking for a quarterback like Casey Thompson or maybe even Hudson Card. But with someone like the four-star Junipero Serra pro-style quarterback commit and California native Maalik Murphy, Hutson has the blocking skill set to thrive.
