Marcus Scott II, CB

Texas was once pursuing the sizable and potent 6-foot-2 and 170-pound three-star Conroe cornerback Marcus Scott II heavily. But now that the former Texas target and LSU decommit Scott II has announced his second commitment, it’s likely that he will re-open his recruitment for a second time in the near future.

But you can’t rule anything out given how much has changed around the college football recruiting landscape in the past 15-16 months. Texas could still remain in the running depending what happens for them at the cornerback position for their 2022 class in the coming months. Namely, Texas must keep the commitment of four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau and seal the deal on the commitment of the elite five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris.

Scott II could be a good backup option for the Longhorns if they wanted to put more effort and attention into the recruitment of him heading into the fall. He does still have the length and one-on-one coverage ability to likely fit in well with this scheme led by new co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coaches Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate.

It was only back on June 13, 2021, that Scott II decommitted from LSU. He really flipped his commitment from LSU to the Mizzou Tigers back on June 11 following a key official visit to Columbia. Mizzou was both the last scholarship offer that Scott II received and his final official visit before flipping his commitment.
