A good portion of the roster for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program this fall will be made up of new additions out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas brought in more than five players to the program by way of the transfer portal this offseason. And this was something that was at least somewhat expected to happen given the change in coaching regime back in January.

Roster attrition tends to be a regularity in conjunction with full changes in the coaching staff. Texas parted ways with former head coach Tom Herman back on Jan. 2, with the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator/reigning Broyles Award winner Sarkisian replacing him subsequently.

New transfer additions ready to be impactful for Texas football this fall

There might be one more transfer portal addition on the way for Sark and the Longhorns this summer, but the roster looks mostly ready for fall camp at the moment. Texas has brought all of their signees among high school prospects from the 2021 class to campus this summer, including the former Michigan Wolverines four-star wide receiver commit Xavier Worthy.

But more work is needed to be done for this coaching staff to ensure that they make the best use of all the new additions to the roster from the portal. Fall camp will be a crucial time for that process to play out. There are some indicators of how certain transfers will fit in on this depth chart already.

Here’s a look into three transfer additions for the Longhorns ready to make an immediate impact this fall.
